INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Christian Unity and Interfaith Ministry (CUIM) of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) joins people of faith around the world in mourning the victims of the horrific terrorist attack outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in Manchester, United Kingdom, on Yom Kippur.
“We are heartbroken and outraged by this senseless act of violence,” said the Rev. Paul S. Tché, President of the Christian Unity and Interfaith Ministry. “An attack on a Jewish community gathered in worship is an attack on all who seek peace, justice, and the sanctity of human life. We stand with our Jewish siblings in prayer, solidarity, and commitment to a future free from antisemitic hatred.”
CUIM reaffirms its dedication to fostering dialogue, trust, and cooperation among faith communities. In moments of tragedy, the ministry underscores the urgent need for unity and compassion across all lines of faith and identity.
“As Christians, we are called to love our neighbors and to stand against hatred in all its forms,” Rev. Tché said. “Together, we must build a world where every person can worship without fear.”
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
